Amara smiled at the grove beyond her. It reminded her of her old home and the backyard she would roll around on. She breathed in the sweet smell of the grass, which smelled like it was freshly trimmed, but she knew that it hadn't been trimmed for a while. The grass blades stood tall, up to her shoulder blades when in wolf form. The trees stood tall like guards in front of a castle. "Wow, this place would be great for hide and seek." Amara said to herself outloud. Her smile turned into a sad frown. She then remembered you needed more than one person to play the game. She didn't have any friends in Felaria yet. She was new, and barely knew anyone here. She started to run into the grass and she ran for about 5 minutes at her estimation.
She stopped when she reached a spot where there was no grass growing, and it was just dirt. Amara sat down on her haunches and sighed. The wind blew causing the grass to make a whispering kind of sound. It sounded as if the grass whispered Hello. and Goodbye. She closed her eyes and thought back to that night when she ran away. It seemed like a distant memory now. She has to forget about her old life. Out with the old, and in with the new, right? She opened up her eyes and saw now that the dirt that she was sitting on was now grass.
She knew this place was not like her home. She decided now that this was better than her old life. She knew that her family was better without her. She wondered what her parents thought when she never came back inside to eat the rest of her dinner. Were they happy that she never came back or were they crying that they lost their one and only daughter. Amara was sad, but she knew how stupid it was to think about her old life. She hated them. She now was starting a fresh new life, kind of like an immigrant coming to the New World. She chuckled at her silly thought. She laid down and closed her eyes again. Suddenly, she heard a sound. It startled her causing her to open her yellow eyes. She closed her tired eyes, but heard the sound again. "Who's there!" she whispered under her breath. She heard a rustle from behind her. The tall grass blades were moving to and fro. Amara closed her eyes tightly hoping that whatever it was, it wouldn't kill her.
