Up above the world so high
Brinzer became faintly aware of the light filtering past her eyelids. She stretched out to her full length, yawning, like a cat. She was feeling very satisfed at the moment, after her hunt last night, a couple deer. She had settled down in the middle of the night in a small clearing, just large enough to contain her large mass. Well, large to most people. Brinzer was rather puny compared to most dragons she saw. Even though she was young, she was still small for her age, and was not too fond of that fact. She stood up, deliberating what she would spend this glarious new day doing. How she loved being able to just wander and do things at her liezure.
Unfolding her wings to their slightly oversized length, she crouched and dug her talons in to the ground. Then she pushed off with great force, launching herself at least 50 feet above the treetops. She hung there easily for a few minutes, until with a few heavy beats of her wings, she started drifting in no particular direction. Brinzer couldn't help but to admire the way the sun glinted off her amethyst scales, and saw the sun glinting off something else below her. As she looked down, she saw that she was currently over an ovular lake. A very clean ovular lake by the looks of it. She had gotten herself all messy last night. . .And a swin could be fun. Laughing quietly, but brightly, to herself, she stopped and angled herself perpendicular to the forest floor.
Brinzer ducked her head, the rest of her body followed. Tucking her wings in as close to her thin body as possible, she headed in a speedy nose dive toward the sparkling water directly below. She was completely straight, a purple arrow hurtling straight down at breakneck speed. Her descent ended with a huge splash. Water scattered everywhere, wetting the trees on the shores of the lake, and making the small animals peeking out run away. Although they might have run away for the fact that a dragon just entered their midst. Brinzer swished around in the water, blowing little air bubbles to amuse herself further.
After a time, she pushed herself upward, breaking the surface dramatically. Her long neck arched backwards, sending even more water everywhere. She paddled to shore, clawed up the bank, and shook like a dog. Now pretty much every tree on the edge of the banks was wet. She laughed to herself again, nothing like a swim to start your day off well.

William was currently lounging under a tree, looking out to the crystal clear lake that was some distance away. But where he was, he was barely on the sand that bordered the lake. He wasn't very close to it. The morning sunlight was shining bright, but William's eyes were shaded by neon green shutter shades that hung over his golden eyes. William, in his human form, was sitting up against a tree and practically asleep. In his form of slipping between consciousness and unconsciousness, his mind slipped to thoughts of where he had come from to Felaria. The busy streets of bustling cities in California, the illegal parties, the alcohol, the drugs. He loved it all. Yet, to the normal person, a life like he used to live was considered horrible and punishable by a life in prison. He really didn't get it. How could something so fun be so bad? He wondered this.
William's thoughts were interrupted by a tremendously loud splashing noise, and large drops of water hitting him all at once. What a rude way to be woken up. His eyes shot open, and he stood up as fast as he possibly could (which was pretty fast) and his head spun before he could see what had made its way into the water of the lake. But once his blurry vision cleared, he could see that a female dragon had taken a plunge in the water. William smirked. This was the first time he had encountered another dragon like himself. And her scales were purple, much like his! William decided to do something. He glanced around up into the trees covering him. Taking his hoodie off quickly, followed by his shirt. His sunglasses hit the ground, but not before he was showered yet again by water. He frowned, and ran to the nearest tree that cascaded over the water.
For a human, it would be way too cold to go for a swim. But for dragons, it was just right. William climbed the tree easily, his strong arms pulling his body weight into the tallest branches. With a loud and siren-like wooohoo!, William cannonballed into the freezing water. He was sure that the dragoness had seen him, he had meant it to be that way. After swirling around below the water for a few seconds getting used to the temperature, he surfaced, and paddled toward the shore that the dragon was at. Still in treading water, he ran his hands through his now wet, bright purple hair that would make anyone suspicious about him. He looked to the draca with his startlingly golden orbs. He tipped his head up quickly in a greeting gesture. "'Sup." he said, with a peculiar tone in his voice and a sly grin on his face.

Up above the world so highBrinzer looked around in the bright sunlight, at the sparkling water and the wet forest around it. Her head snapped up when she heard a loud whooping from high in one of the trees near her. She groaned at the disturbance in the peaceful silence, and looked to see what idiot had made the sound, and what for. She saw a small boy - well, small to her. She didn't care how big he was to others around his size - sailing from the high branches of a nearby tree. He disappeared in the almost still lake with a splash pitiful in comparison to hers. Brinzer smirked at her obvious win in the competition she couldn't help but to see in her childlike mind. Things were much more fun for her than for others who had grown in their minds.
He came back up a minute later, and made his way to the shore near her. He was an unusual one, coming so close to such a large beast. But, that didn't seem to be the only thing unusual about him. His hair was different from other people, they had usually dull shades of blonde or brown, sometimes even red or black. But this one, his hair was a bright shade of the color of her scales. And she saw his eyes when he lifted his head, they were bright. Humans, and most of the people resembling them, did not have eyes like that. Well, this was an odd one. He moved his head in an odd way, a jerk upwards. Did he have a tic, maybe? "'Sup." What did that mean? She hadn't heard that greeting before. It was probably some new human word that she hadn't gotten wind of. She really preferred not to interact with them. The sky was a much more fitting place for a dragon.
Brinzer approached him slowly, with a curious look in her eye. Two steps and she was looming over him. What to do, what to do with this odd one? Or rather, how to play with him? She smirked playfully, and reached out and gently picked him up. Holding him firmly, Brinzer brought the strange humanoid to her eye level. Her pitch black eyes met his bright golden ones, and she deliberated whether or not she wanted to play scary, or simply find out what his deal was. No, she wasn't in a scary mood."How is it you are able to come near me? You are different. Most anyone who would lay eyes on me would run in fear. And your features," Brinzer puffed out breath through her nose, making his hair blow back. "Also set you apart."

William kept his smirkish grin on his face as he saw the dragoness approach him rather cautiously. He didn't really expect for her to reach out to pick him up, but he wasn't frightened, and he really didn't show that he was all that surprised. As she hoisted him up to her eye level, he placed both hands out on the wrist section of her leg as to better stabilize himself so that he knew he wasn't going to drop to the ground. Not that it would harm him in any way. Being a dragon, even in his human shift, he could survive a lot of things that normal humans could not. Including high drops and near freezing water. William smiled up at the draca warmly, not doing anything to upset or set her off on an angry rampage. He knew how female dragons could get when they were mad.
How is it you are able to come near me? He listened to her questions, and waited for her to stop speaking until he did. Just common courtesy. Not that he cared anything about common courtesy, but he figured that the more friends he could make the merrier any of his parties would be. William had to close his eyes in the force that was like wind of the purple dragon breathing out into his face. She thought he was a human. This was an amusing thought to William. "Are you dissing my hair?" he asked. He got a lot of comments about his hair. He couldn't help it. When he shifted into a human, it just turned out that way. His voice was cool and smooth, as if he was always calm and seemed intent on staying that way. He liked it if everything was cool between him and his groupie-like friends. "You're right though. I'm different." He smirked after speaking those words. "But I'm not all that different from you."
With that statement, he managed to wriggle free of the dragoness's grip and fall to the sandy shore, landing on his feet. He looked up to the female and held up one finger telling her to hold on for a second. He ran quickly over to his clothes that he had ditched moments earlier and picked up his green sun glasses. He wanted to make an effect and show her a trick that he had learned a while ago. Putting the shades on, he strolled back to the dragoness. "Watch this." he said before shifting into the huge, ebony purple dragon that was his true form. But the thing was, the neon green shutter shades had shifted with him, and were now dragon-sized. He laughed, showing his shiny white daggers in the process. He reached up and pulled his glasses down, peering at the draca from over their green edges. "Soy atractivo, son yo no?" He laughed hartily again, plopping down on his haunches like a dog.

Up above the world so highThe odd boy didn't seem phased by being picked up by a dragon, he kept complete composure. How was this possible? He also admitted he was different. Well, that much was obvious to any eye. "But I'm not all that different from you." Brinzer cocked her head in confusion at this statement, they had nothing in common. She watched him passively and sat back on her haunches as he dropped to the ground, and went to do something. He put on some ridiculous eyewear, bright and useless-looking, along with some clothes that covered the rest of him. "Watch this. Watch what? What could he do? Tiny human. If he wanted to see something he should see how everything looked from a couple hundred feet up in the air.
And then he was as big as her, a little bigger in fact. In the same form too. So, WOW, he was a dragon, too. Well, that made a lot of sense. It's a wonder she hadn't thought of it. Brinzer had actually forgotten that dragons could look like humans at the time, because she wasn't all that fond of her human shift. Somehow the eyewear had grown when he had shifted though. Well, that was pretty weird. This was all around a weird dude. He said something weird, that Brinzer didn't understand. Another language, maybe? She realized her mouth was hanging open in astonishment, and quickly snapped it shut. Still quite taken aback, she figured it would probably be a good idea to say something so she didn't look like a complete fool.
"I um, I don't understand those words. What else was there to say? Brinzer still sounded like a fool in her own ears. This dragon was obviously older than her, he was bigger. And she was pretty young anyway, a hatchling. Standing up and poking her head around the vicinity of his head, then leveled her eyes with his, which were still partially covered by the large piece of plastic. "Would it, uh, be rude to ask: what's with the weird glasses?" Brinzer wasn't sure what her take on this guy was. He was weird, and seemed kind of cocky. But hey, he was another dragon. Not often at all that she saw another of her kind. She figured she might make the most of this meeting. Whatever the most may be.

William watched the dragoness's reaction to him suddenly transforming into a giant dragon. He was quite larger than she, and he smirked at the look on her face that said she was absolutely stunned. He hoped that she was stunned in a starstruck way. He was used to that. He chuckled when she closed her mouth so quickly that it made a sound. In his mind, her actions meant that she was sheerly amazed. And maybe she was. I um, I don't understand those words. William's smile faded a bit. Oh, she didn't know Spanish. He always forgot that people around here didn't know Spanish as well as people did back in Cali. He stood up, and translated his words in a more blunt way than he had originally said. She wouldn't know anyway. "I said, 'Do you like what you see?'" His voice was still casual and cool.
He stood perfectly still, although he kept his eyes on her all the time while she was poking around, observing him. Would it, uh, be rude to ask: what's with the weird glasses? William smiled again, in the face of the dragoness for their eyes were locked. "Baby, ain't nothin' rude in my book." He backed up a little bit, and reached up and took his glasses off. "Shutter shades would be the appropriate terminology for these glasses." He used big words in order to sound conceitedly smart like guys do. He dictated his words a little bit more than was necessary. "And I wear them, because that is the style." The huge purple dragon closed his mouth and looked around the setting that they were in. "Little chilly, idn't it?" He shook similar to the way a dog would, as if he were shaking off the cold. To a dragon, it wasn't as cold outside as it would be to a human. But it still wasn't exactly a comfortable temperature.
He looked back to the purple draca in front of him. "So watcha name, ah? Tell me a lil' aboutcha self." He flipped his claw up and popped his shutter shades back over his eyes. He didn't really have anywhere else to put them, anyway. He wondered where this other female had come from. Did she come from anywhere as near as interesting as where he had come from? He doubted it. He didn't think that anywhere could beat California. But perhaps the city in Felaria had the potential to hold some pretty rockin' parties.

Up above the world so highThe other dragon seemed to be disappointed that Brinzer didn't understand spanish. Well, she couldn't really help that. "I said, 'Do you like what you see?" Oh. Well now was that so hard to say in english? And Brinzer didn't really know if she liked what she saw. She didn't usually size people up, preferring to get them to play or something, but such an odd creature excited her curiosity. The male said something about nothing being rude to him. Well at least she wouldn't be offending him, but if nothing was rude to him, then he could probably very easily offend her. In fact, she wasn't too fond of the term 'baby'. She may still be young, but Brinzer did not like being referred to like that. She ignored it, though. It was probably a common term where he was from.
He went on to answer her question and explain about the eyewear. "Shutter. . .shades? That's a new one. They look pretty ridiculous in my opinion. Brinzer rolled her eyes at his words about "the style." She didn't understand why a dragon would be so concerned about human fashion. My, he was so weird. Had she really been away from both the humans and her own kind for so long? Not that she spent hardly any time with them in the first place. Brinzer stared blankly at him, with his strange words and actions. And accessories. She couldn't get over the plastic he seemed so fond of wearing on his head.
He came back with a sort of question of his own. Well, a question phrased in the form of a friendly command. She just looked at him for a minute, before opening her mouth cautiously and speaking. "Uh, well. I'm Brinzer. Not much to me really. There really wasn't. She was basically just a child who roamed. Her slightly shy (at times) nature also didn't let her spout a bunch of stuff about herself. "And yourself? Where did you acquire this odd way of speaking? And those. . . Um, interesting 'shades'? Of course he had to have a history. As far as Brinzer knew, most dragons didn't talk like juvenile humans. It kind of annoyed her. At this point, he didn't seem like the kind of person whos company she would normally enjoy. But he was still another dragon. A male one at that. And lately she had been wanting more interaction with her own kind. "I guess I could at least try to get to know this guy. . ."

The dragoness didn't look very impressed with his knowledge of his style. In fact, she looked like his talk of fashion lowered his position in her eyes. William didn't much like this. Uh, well. I'm Brinzer. Not much to me really. The ebony dragon thought that this draca had a pretty rockin' name. To him, it sounded like a famous DJ from where he had come from. Or like a well known partier nickname. But there had to be something to her. Everyone had a past, everyone has a personality. William guessed he would just have to figure out the vitals that Brinzer had missed on his own. William smiled and slightly laughed at her next words to him. And yourself? Where did you acquire this odd way of speaking? Odd way of speaking? He had no idea what she was talking about.
So now it was his turn to tell his story, even though the other hadn't told much of a story like he had expected. "I came from the one and only Cali, man!" William's voice got all high pitched like a guy who was really excited. "Los Angeles, California. Party capital of the USA." He laughed a little, then looked down and said to himself more than Brinzer, "Y había allí algunos partidos salvajes. . ." He looked back up to the dragoness. "The name's William, by the way." Sometimes, he got looks or laughs when people first knew his name. They thought such a proper name for such a wild guy was a bit ironic. And really, it was. "But their just sunglasses. . ." he sounded as though he was slightly disappointed because the draca was hatin' on his shades. He suddenly cheered up.
"Let's go!" he declared, and spread his large wings. The golden membrane stretched with a thick and leathery sound, and the sun that hung in the sky reflected off of them. This created a spectrum of little lighted dots all over the surrounding trees, like the setting had been showered with glitter. With two swift beats of his wings, William was airborne, doing spirals and flips in the air. He was obviously showing off. After corkscrewing high in the air, the brute flipped and corkscrewed down. His thin body sliced into the water of the lake, barely making a splash, but making large ripples.

Up above the world so highObviously, the other dragon was at least a little disappointed with her lack of a story. But visibly excited to be able to tell his. Well, at least that meant she didn't have to be the one talking. She always sounded a little stupid to herself. Thankfully, the male dragon started with his story without pressing her about more from her own. "I came from the one and only Cali, man!" Ah. California. Well that would explain his behavior, and it seemed he liked to party. Well, at least he had a fun hobby. Brinzer got a little irritated again when he said something more in spanish. She really liked to know what people near her were saying. "The name's William, by the way." William, huh? Nice name. Normal name. One you would hear in many societies. Unlike hers.
William looked a little upset that she wasn't fond of his eyewear, but perked up. Suddenly spreading his wings, he took to the sky. Brinzer couldn't help but notice the nicely colored gold membrane. Now, why couldn't she be multicolored? It looked so much better. She laughed, and propelled herself up near him. William was being a show off, preforming arial tricks. It didn't much surprise her. But she could do those things too. In fact, it was what she was best at. Brinzer watched as the other dragon dove toward the lake below, making a much less dramatic entrance in to the water than she had earlier. She snorted. Big splashes were much more fun. And they got so much more stuff wet. Always a bonus.
She angled herself down, not really trying to gain too much speed as she descended. Before hitting the water, Brinzer twisted her body and folded her wings, so her back was facing the water. She hit the lake with a defeaning smack, and sank quite a ways down. Now that was the way to dive. So much more satisfying. She resurfaced a minute later, smirking. Obviously very satisfied with herself. Dragging herself to the shore, Brinzer looked to see what William had done. And what he would think of her oh so dramatic descent. She shook the water once again from her scales, then unfolded and flapped her wings quickly, getting herself back in the sky.
