We are the vampires, like living stone.
Sangsue relaxed visibly when Sydonia made no move at her. Although she would feel a bit better had she gotten a reply, just to be sure that the state had passed. Concern quickly flared up inside her, when the wolf turned away and started to leave. She wanted to call out, tell her friend not to go, that it was alright. But at the same time she wasn't sure if it would be better just to let her go and deal with what she was feeling at the moment, if that was what she wanted. A faint though ran through the back of her mind, to stay in peace for now and dispose of the body, the young girl which had caused the whole mess, and find Syd to sort it all out later. Should she do that?
Every part of her was screaming to follow, and so she acted on it. Sprinting quickly and silently behind the wolf, she slowed down to match her friends pace about 6 feet behind. Should she get closer and try to talk, what was Sydonia even going to do, or go? She knew that her friend would know she was following. Somehow, the whole ordeal was already forgotten in her mind. Her first life-threatening situation would leave no mark on her memories, and she hoped Sydonia would understand that Sangsue would not hold it against her, in any way. She probably would never even bring it up, and of course try not to think about it. Sangsue just continued to follow her friend with the distance in front of her, and waited for any possible slowing in the wolf's pace.
We are loyal, enduring, longing; for a life besides our own.

Oh, in a dream, my father came to me.Sydonia kept on trotting, down the lonely, narrow street with her head down and her tail dragging. Each one of her differently colored paws slugged along, scraping the tops against the bricks of the ground. Her heart was slow, sad. With each mournful beat of it, there was another step away from the vampire who was the wolf's best friend; and the person the wolf had just tried to kill. No, Syd could not go back to the vampire on her own. She had started walking and was not about to turn around. That is, until she felt Sangsue's presence behind her. Constantly, steadily. The wolf knew that the vampire was pursuing her. Instantly, her heart turned from sluggish and slow, to beating fast and almost palpitating. The brown-ish black wolf stopped, but did not turn around for several seconds.
But eventually, she did. The wolf slowly turned around completely, and in place. Still looking down, she only saw the vampire's legs. And when she looked up, for she did look up to Sangsue's face, her red eyes held hurt and anger in them. Not at the vampire, but at herself. As she looked up, her ears flopped to the side lazily. But then the wolf pinned her ears back against her head, lowered her head almost to the ground, and let out a growl at the vampire. This was not a threatening sound, nor was it a warning to leave her alone. It was a plea for Sangsue not to bother her about it, for she was already kicking herself enough.
And made me swear that I'd keep what's sacred to me.

Sangsue didn't have to keep up her pace for very long, as Sydonia turned back to her. As she had expected. However, her friend would not look directly at her. This bothered her. She understood Syd's remorse, really she did, but all was already forgiven. It was likely she would react similar, had she felt fresh blood upon her tongue, and not have been able to satiate her thirst. It would make her crazed, and she wouldn't think about what she was doing. Although should she hurt anyone she cared for, she would never live it down. So yes, she understood. But she still felt the obligation to make her friend feel better.
When she saw the wolf's ears move, and heard the growl that seemed to beseech her to leave Sydonia in peace, or, not cause any less peace than she was already experiencing, she felt that perhaps it really was what she should do at the moment. Sangsue turned away slowly. She tried to convey in her eyes that her friend shouldn't think too much of it, should she choose to meet them. Then ran back in a blur to the site of the gruesome murder of the girl. The blood had dried on what was left of her clothes, stained the sidewalk and street. Sangsue gently picked up the coold, lifeless body and paced to the alley which also held the body of the man.
Ignoring him for the moment, she dropped the girl's corpse in to the large dumpster, then did the same with the man. Luckily, he wasn't quite so messy. She figured that the already horrid smell of the garbage would cover up the stench of decaying bodies. Again idle thoughts of making sure the water supply remained pure ran through her mind, but she couldn't focus on them now. She simply swung herself back up to perch on the same street lamp she had earlier, and faced the direction her friend had gone. She would watch until the wolf went out of sight, then possibly return quickly home. Thankfully, she had taught the people in her home never to send looking for her unless she had given instructions to do so after a certain amount of time. So she had all night, and it was very likely she would stay out just that long.
We are loyal, enduring, longing; for a life beides our own.

Burning alive from the inside. The wolf knew from the look in the vampire's eyes that she had already forgiven Syd for what she had done. But why was she always so quick to forget? You should forgive, but you should never forget. The next time that something like this happened, would Sangsue remember to prevent it? This is why Sydonia was so frustrated that her friend would forget so quickly. The wolf looked back down at the black toes of her front feet, and away from the vampire in front of her. She didn't know what she would do now. But in a flash, her friend was gone. She had run away. And Syd took this as cue to do the same.
As soon as Sangsue was out of her sights, the large wolf turned around the way she was before, and pushed off of the ground to send herself at full speed. She tore down the brick street in nothing but a blur of brown, silver, and black. As she ran, her vision was beginning to blur from the tears that threatened to spill over. She shook her head violently to rid herself of them. But instead, it made them come with more pressure on her. So, still in full stride, the wolf raised her cranium to the stars that weren't there anymore and let out a mournful howl. A howl that could be heard down the street she was on, and many others. And she kept on running, as fast as her legs could carry her. But a brick that was out of place in the street caught her back foot, and she flipped over completely forward. After landing and tumbling a little, she lay on her right side, and her back leg aching. Maybe she would just lay there and sleep for the night. Yes, I think I'll do that.
Fin. Burning. Sleep now, you're falling out.
