We are the vampires, like living stone.
Sangsue rose from her large, deep red bed. As he yawned and stretched, she felt something furry scuffling around her feet. She looked down to see a sable ferret looking up at her expectantly. "Ah, Mou. Come here, darling." Sang bent down to pick up the tiny creature, letting it scurry up her arm and on to her shoulders. She had recently aquired the little pet, and it had not left her since. Sangsue positively adored the little 6 week old ferret. She gently grabbed it from her shoulders and made to cradle it in her arms as she walked across the room to the large walk in closet. Dressing swiftly in her regular black sweater-jeans ensemble, she felt a little hungry, and headed down to the kitchen.
It was a little early for Sangsue to be awake, but she hadn't been sleeping all that well lately. Since her encounter in the city with Syd, she thought about it alot. Mostly worrying about whether or not her friend was too upset. But she was prone to needless worrying, so she mostly dismissed the thoughts. It was a long walk down to the kitchens, and she questioned why she had had this place built so large in the first place. Oh, how she loved being the ruler. Or one of them anyway. She loved the sense of power, and how so many people would obey her. Sang still hadn't quite gotten used to it.
As she pushed open the door to the enormous kitchen, full of the finest kitchen tools, the rich aroma of breakfast foods wafted strongly to her. Frying bacon, sausage, waffles, she concluded that it was close to breakfast time. But Sangsue hardly ever ate breakfast - or lunch - with the rest of the house. Although she always made time for dinner. As the door banged shut behind her, the staff all turned to her and bowed before returning to their duties. She wasn't very fond of all the formality, really, but she wasn't going to make a fuss about it. She picked up a small strawberry from the basket convienently located next to her, and fed it to Mou. Mou was a pampered little thing.
There was already a large table, about half filled with food, to be wheeled out to the dining hall later, to her left. Sangsue walked over and filled a tray, then called for someone to have it sent up to her chambers. Knowing her, if she carried it herself, it would probably be spilled. When she once again found herself in her rather large bedroom, it was already waiting. She sat down in the gilded chair and ate, Mou running around, between the chair legs, hopping up on small shelves around the room. After having satisfied her hunger, she went to rest on her bed again. Slowly settling cross-legged, she leaned back against the fluffy pillow. Mou came to rest on her knee. Oh, how she needed company. Sang had become too lonely. You needed more than a ferret for companionship, no matter how adorable that ferret may be.

Hatter ran as fast as his legs could carry him through the streets of the city. He ran, because he was being pursued. He looked back over his shoulder to see a very angry female chasing him. She was intent on killing him, he knew that for sure. He tore down the street toward the only place that he knew would possibly save him: The House of Royals. Perhaps the rulers there would show him mercy, or at least save him from a miserable death by this dragoness that was chasing him. He hadn't even meant to anger her. He couldn't help if he was that annoying. Although, he could recall some pretty nasty things come out of his own mouth directed at her. Maybe she had a reason to be mad, but not like this.
It was now a straight shot to the mansion. Point A to Point B; it couldn't be too hard, right? Any person with common sense would know that. But there was a problem with that. Hatter had no common sense. And sometimes, this proved to be more beneficial than having it. For if it was a straight line, there would be no corners to turn around to lose your pursuer. Hatter thanked the gods above that this girl didn't dare go into her dragon form in the city. He would be dead for sure. But that meant that he couldn't just turn into a panther and run off, either. They were kind of at a moot point now.
Just as Hatter made it to the large doors of the palace-like structure and went to open one of the doors after skidding to a stop, the dragoness caught up to him. He knew he was in for it if he didn't do something, so he threw open the door at the same time the girl put her arms around him. The only thing that the many employees and servants in the lobby of the mansion saw was the girl tackle Hatter to the ground right in the door way. Hitting the ground, Hatter's light brown top hat fell off and slid out to the middle of the tiled floor. With his eyes set on his hat, he scrambled out from underneath the dragoness, grabbed his hat and ran to hide behind one of the workers in the lobby. Come back, you little bastard! the girl cried out.
Meanwhile, all of the people in the mansion were confused and at a loss of what to do. Hatter and the dragon were certainly making a ruckus too early in the morning. Just as one of the guards of the mansion drew their weapon, the girl transformed into a giant, red dragon that barely fit into the high ceiling of the place. A few shouts from people around the place called out for other people, and the dragon reached out with its neck and snapped its jaws at Hatter, whose person he had had for protection vanished. He was just out of her reach. Hatter turned quickly with widened eyes and started making his way up the nearest staircase. But not before the mighty roar of the dragon broke out. I'll kill him! When I get my claws on him, I'll kill him!
O shot, you never got caught!

We are the vampires, like living stone.
Sangsue sat for an undetermined amount of time on her bed, keeping her mind clear, focusing on the goings-on in the rest of the house. The silence, combined with her great hearing, made this very easy. Scuffling of feet on all the floors, babbling of voices she didn't bother to pick out conversations from, the norm. But then she heard the main door open and close. Now why would that be? No one had called to meet with her. To her knowledge, no one had been out. Either she had been negligent, or someone was here that should not be. Most likely the latter; Sang was never ignorant of the things happening in her household. To confirm this, she heard other loud noises.
Sangsue stood immediately, eyebrows creased and frowning. pausing to let Mou climb up to her shoulder, she ran down to see what the commotion was. Disturbance this early did not put her in a good mood. The trip was much faster than her casual walk down to the kitchens earlier, in a matter of seconds she was at the top of the grand staircase leading down to the entry chamber. The sight that met her eyes both astonished and angered her. A woman had a man on the ground, and it seemed that she had some type of quarrel with him. "That woman better have a damn good reason for making such a scene in my house. Surely she can not be ignorant as to where she is.
Servants, guards, kitchen boys, had all congregated to the room, and it was crowded along the edges. The man squirmed free and hid behind one of the guards. She screeched at him, and Sang decided this had gone too far. She began to descend the stairs to get in the middle of it. They would have to stop under her authority. And if they didn't, well then their punishment would depend on the reason. For their insubordination as well as the scene. As she got about halfway down, she saw a weapon drawn. Well good. But then instead of the woman, a huge red dragon was before her. "What is the meaning of all this?" Her voice was loud, and rang with authority.
Reaching the bottom, her facial expression was furious. The dragon screeched again at the man, who Sangsue saw out of the corner of her eye was trying to sneak up the staircase she had just come down. "You, stop." She did not like to seem harsh, and so did not have him siezed. But if he did not obey, that was exactly what would happen. She then turned back to the large beast filling the room. "And you! What quarrel have you with him? What reason can you present for causing such a ruckus, and here, of all places? CALM YOURSELF!" At this time her voice and face both were positively livid. The small creature on her shoulder sat terrified, and she reached up to pet it reassuringly. While she had no doubt she could handle this herself, she greatly wished Sydonia was also here to help manage the situation. A vampire and a werewolf was a bit more intimidating that just a vampire.

As Hatter tried to quickly make his way up the staircase and away from the towering red dragon, he felt a rush of wind next to him, and there was a female figure standing at the bottom of the staircase. Great. Now it seemed that everyone was going to beat him to smithereens. What is the meaning of all this? Damn, she had authority. It really did look like Hatter had some sort of death wish by coming in here now. She wasn't looking at him, though. Maybe he could get away from all of them before he was noticed. The lanky man tried to gain balance on the stairs, and creep up even further. But before he could make it even three steps, he knew he was being called out. You, stop. Hatter froze in his steps, and scrunched his face up as if he was about to be hit. And for a second, he thought he was going to be.
As he listened to the woman scream at the dragoness, he turned around slowly and sat down on the step he was currently at. Making sure he hadn't lost it, Hatter reached his hand up to touch his hat on top of his head. Down on the floor, the enormous dragon had turned back into the furious girl that she had been only moments before. She looked absolutely hysterical as she blabbered about, trying to explain herself to this woman who had made everything stop. Hatter winced when she spilled out all of the nasty things he had said to her, the insults and sarcastic remarks. It hadn't sounded that horrible when he actually said it, though. As the dragon girl finished her explanation, she glared up at the peculiar man sitting on the staircase. Hatter smiled and waved at her.
Releasing a frustrated scream, the dragoness took off one way and up the staircase on which Hatter sat, with her teeth bared and hands balled into fists. Hatter's eyes widened as she took a swing at his head, and he ducked just in time. Another swing downward would be dodged by moving to the right. And finally, when the girl raised her boot to stomp down on him, he shifted into a large black panther and jumped aside faster than she hit the unfortunate stair. A big boom sounded out as her foot hit the wood of the stairs at full force. The panther made its way down the stairs as quickly as possible, and ended up sliding around on the slippery tile floor from lack of grip in the pads on his huge paws.
O shot, you never got caught!

We are the vampires, like living stone.
Sangsue heard the man on the stairs stop. She would deal with him in a minute. He did not look like the one causing most of the trouble here, although if she was mad at him, then it was probably ultimately his fault. The dragoness shifted back to human form and explained the situation. Still not calmly. So it seemed that this man had been antogonizing her. Insults, remarks. So yeah, this appeared to be his fault. And plus, it would be his fault they had come here, as he would have been the one being chased. Yes, he was at fault. Although, the dragoness was not going to be let off the hook, by any means. At least nothing seemed to have been damaged. That would help their case.
And then the woman made a move for him again. Noisily. God, was it too much to ask for people to calmly solve things? Sure, sang fought. But it was so much easier for everyone if the whole thing was at least attempted to be talked out. The man was at least able to dodge. Saves the trouble of chaotic injury. For now, at least. She was mildly surprised though, when he darted away, and he was a cat. A large black cat. Ok, so he wasn't a human, thank god. If he was. . .Well then he probably would have to be executed, what with the whole 'saw a dragon' and all that. He would probably be executed anyway for causing this all. Punishments for humans were much harsher than anyone else, a commonly known fact.
But now, Sangsue was positively furious. What right had this woman to come in, go against her command to stop this all, and damage one of the stairs? She hated being harsh, but this woman had to be restrained. "Guards, sieze her." A little overused in the movies, with the upset kings and all, but oh well. Somehow her voice was calm though. Pure fury didn't drive her to near hysterics like some people. "And as for you," Approaching the panther "what is your explanation for all of this, hm? Her arms were crossed in clear distaste, and there was just a tiny hint of sarcasm to her voice. While she would much rather just get this over with, there were always two sides to every story. And infuriated woman tended to exaggerate sometimes. Just a fact of life.

As the huge black panther that was Hatter slipped around the tile floor, trying to regain his balance and looking quite comical all the while, he saw the woman with power give an order to retrieve the dragoness. A lightingbolt of fear shot through Hatter's body, for he almost knew that he was going to be next. But before he could even dread the event, the woman walked gracefully up to him. She had power. Hatter could almost smell the authority that emanated from her. But he did not know exactly how much power she held. Just as she began to speak, Hatter found his balance and stood to his full height. With his head raised completely, his amber eyes were only a foot and ten inches from the woman's face. A disturbing size for a black cat such as himself.
What is your explanation for all of this, hm? For a second, the panther's eyes blinked with innocence. But then in another half second, Hatter was back to his thin human form. He stood a few inches taller than this woman, but that didn't stop him from feeling inferior. As he pretty much always did to anyone. "I wasn't sincere when I said those things, I swear." Hatter's voice did sound serious and concerned. He spoke with a strange but heavy English accent. "Things just seem to flow right out of my mouth without filter." At this, the dragoness -who was being held by two large guards- lashed out with her voice. Liar! she screamed. Hatter only glanced over to her for a second, with an unreadable expression on his face.
He turned back to the woman in front of him. "And I came here because I knew this was the only place where she would actually be stopped from killing me." Hatter blinked a few times. "I didn't- don't want to die."
O shot, you never got caught!

The panther apparently was not that good at walking on polished floors. As he regained his balance, Sangsue had trouble holding back a small snicker. The innocent look he gave did not have any effect on her. She hated innocence. But then he was back to human shape, and this made her slightly more comfortable. While she was used to such things as talking to cats, or wolves, or any other animal, she still found it much easier to comfortably converse with a person. In person form. Even though he was taller than her, she still felt powerful. She was used to people being taller than her anyway. Plus, others didn't have a troop of finely trained guards who would follow their commands without hesitation. Sangsue was probably just a little too cocky, but unlike some who were as well, she could afford to be.
"I wasn't sincere when I said those things, I swear." Her eyes narrowed. By Sang's reckoning, you should not say something you don't mean. Even if it is a put-down, if you mean the person no ill-being, then keep your mouth shut. Save it for the people you actually do want to piss off. Another screech came from the now restrained woman at the foot of the stairs. She just couldn't keep herself in check, could she? Definitely not something to turn things in her favor. She turned sharply toward the dragoness. "Silence yourself. One more unprompted word from you, and you will regret it." Sangsue had calmed herself, a feat the other one seemed incapable of. She was now just deliberating.
Returning her focus to the man, she coudn't decide if and how he would, or should, be punished. She understood that some people had a hard time shutting up. No, she felt he could be let off. This time. "Well, see to it that you aquire a filter. If I hear tell of it again, I very well may let whichever person you have upset go at you. Am I understood? Very sternly, without giving him enough time to respond, she turned back to the woman again. She seemed to have taken Sang's words seriously, and had not made a sound. "I am going to let you go as well. But if you do go after him again, and harm is done, then penalty will be given." She would have the woman taken back to wherever she resided, and then the man would be free to go. But she would probably be keeping tabs.

This woman in front of Hatter did not seem very convinced by him. How was it that he could never seem innocent when he really wanted to? It wasn't fair. Well, see to it that you acquire a filter. Hatter pursed his lips. She had no idea what she was asking him to do by telling him to do that. Obtaining a filter for Hatter would be like taking the vocal cords out of a Jack Russel Terrier, or taking the salt out of the water in the sea. He would not say anything though, not now that it seemed this woman was going to let him off. It seemed better than the way she had treated the dragoness. And technically, it had been all his fault. Hatter was relieved at what the dragon had been given to work with. This would prevent any further path crossings with this angry creature to be fatal for him.
But all of this couldn't be dismissed just like that! This definitely wasn't fair. Hatter was having fun. As he always did when his or someone else's life is in danger. And he still had one thing to find out; he didn't know who this female authority figure was. He hadn't been in Felaria for very long, and in the week and a half that he had been, he hadn't talked to anyone or made any friends. He had gathered that there were two people that ruled the entire place, but did they live here? Hatter had no idea what he had gotten himself into when he ran inside of this building, that's for sure. He turned to the graceful woman with all the power around here, and couldn't help how blunt it sounded when he asked "Who are you?" in an inquisitive tone.

We are the vampires, like living stone.
It looked to Sangsue that the whole thing was more or less wrapped up. Well that was rather simple. She would stay to see that they got out, and that no more trouble was caused, and then vanish back up to her bedchamber. As she went to give instructions to the guards holding the woman, to escort her to wherever she had come from, the man spoke to her again. "Who are you?" As if he didn't know. His tone implied that he really didn't, although how that was possible was beyong her. Unless you were the most ignorant person she had ever seen. Sangsue stopped dead in her tracks. Tensed up, she pivoted slowly, in mild shock and irritation.
Lips pursed, she decided how she would explain her high position to this man. She still did not know who he was either. Althoug that wasn't such a big deal. She had many subjects, and it made sense that he was new, so she wouldn't have been able to know him. But knowing who you were talking to was one of her preferances. "While I find it somewhat incomprehensible that you do not know who I am, I assume that you do know the most basic piece of knowledge here, that there are 2 rulers. I am one of them. My name is Sangsue. Sang's voice was crisp, and clearly conveyed her irritation with this man's ignorance. "And who are you?" It was likely a name she would not forget.

Hatter's eyes portrayed his emotions generously as he watched the lady turn around. Something close to fear ran through his veins when he saw her expression -clearly irritated with him- and he blinked a few times just to make sure that he was seeing correctly. He was. When she began to speak, he flinched subtly as though she were going to lash out with her words. But, she did not. Though her tone was a bit patronizing, it was a good explanation. Yes, he did know that there were two leaders. He nodded obediently, just like the little kitty cat that he was, when she stated this fact. But he had not realized that she was one of the two rulers. Hatter guessed that that would entitle her to anything she wanted to do or to punish. Hatter feared that she would be fed up with him before he had a chance, and off him.
And who are you? The fact that someone so high in authority, kind of like a monarchy, would be asking him who he was without him committing a capitol crime was something that he could not comprehend at first. It was safe to say that he had never been in this situation before. He froze up for a few seconds, forgetting how to act around royalty. But wait, he had dealt with monarchs before. Why was now any different? Almost as quick as the stupored state had come over him, it was whisked away by the charm that immediately took over his personality. He took of his hat and leaned down in a small bow before saying, "Forgive me, I had not realized you held such a high place." He looked into the lady's eyes with his, which were ablaze with an amber flame. A curious and playful flame.
He smiled a crooked grin. "You may call me Hatter." he said in a matter-of-factly tone. "And I am the most charming Kititran that you will ever meet." He added the last part in a proud way, and cast his arms out to the side -one still holding his hat- as if to display himself. The grin left his face when he realized that his hat was not on his head. He pressed it down on his horror of a hairdoo, before perking up and smiling at this newfound acquaintance.
O shot, you never got caught!
